What we do
ZEPHYR ANIMATION is a production company based in Paris, France, founded in 2019 by David Sauerwein and Lionel Marty. Zephyr is part of the Madgic Group, which includes the 2 Minutes animation studios, Production companies Label Anim and Label News, and international sales company Madgic Distribution. Zephyr is focused on developing, financing and producing character-driven series with international appeal.
Zephyr has produced Lana Longbeard for Warner Bros. Discovery, Super RTL, M6-Gulli, CBC and Family, and is producing Mogu & Perol for France Télévisions.
Meet the team
David SAUERWEIN
Zephyr Animation is led by its Producer and co-founder, David Sauerwein.
David is French and American, and started at Moonscoop in 2006 in the distribution department. He has since then worked for a variety of studios such as Ubisoft Motion Pictures or Xilam, as writer, head writer, story editor or script doctor.
He has also participated in development and writing workshops with La Poudrière, and currently collaborates with the Gobelins animation school in Paris.
His expertise in development and writing, as well as his international profile, naturally drive him to develop, finance, and produce projects with partners from around the world for the international market.
Lionel Marty
President and co-founder Lionel Marty started international distribution of TV programs in 1994 at Tele Images, then specialized in kids’ contents in 1999 when he launched the Distribution Department of France Animation. He later became President of Worldwide Distribution, CP and Digital at Moonscoop, where he worked for 10 years.
Lionel has received many international awards: Best Distributor by Kidscreen, Best Distributor at Cartoon Forum in 2011 and 2023, and several Best Unifrance International Animation Exports, with a recent nomination to the 2024 finals with Jade Armor.
His credentials: Building kids IP's on an international level by optimizing sales and exposure to enable licensing & merchandising exploitation (Geronimo Stilton, Casper’s Scare School, Fantastic 4, Code Lyoko, Chloe’s Closet, Kid-e-cats, Isadora Moon).
